Abstract
When we think of non-conventional energy sources, we usually think of wind and solar. Both are literally all around us and appear to be permanent, reliable non-conventional as well as renewable energy sources. However, geothermal energy is one significant resource that is often overlooked and may be one of the “highest potential energy sources in the world.”Moreover, geothermal energy’s unique qualities make it especially suited for use in the world that is taking shape. In the United States, lawmakers continue to try to reduce air pollution; both for its immediate health effects and to slow suspected global warming. Geothermal steam that is used to generate electricity gives off almost no byproducts.
This review paper covers the over view of geothermal energy, its potential, utilization by the world, latest developments and future.
