Introduction to Network Security

Network security is a complex subject, historically only tackled by well-trained and experienced. However, as more and more people are `` wired'', an increasing number of people need to understand the basic concepts of security in a networked world. This document was written with the user in basic computer and information systems manager in mind, explaining the concepts needed to read the advertising on the market and understand the risks and how to deal with them. A brief history of networking is included, and an introduction to TCP / IP. We continue to view risk management, network threats, firewalls, and more special-purpose secure networking devices. Not intended to be a frequent reference \ or a `` hands on& describing how to perform specific functions.
