MITIGATION OF MULTIPATH EFFECTS IN SATELLITE AIDED COMMUNICATIONS: A NEW PROPOSED METHOD USING ELECTRONMAGNETIC MODELLING

Abstract : (Seminar) Multipath effect is most prominent in satellite aided communications like those using Global Postioning System(GPS). Among various high frequency techniques, Uniform theory of diffraction (UTD) is computationally efficient for antenna radiation pattern analysis. Of various GPS antennas, microstrip antennas are widely used in GPS receivers due to compact size. The 3-D radiation pattern analysis of microstrip antenna mounted on rocket shaped structure is carried out using UTD. The results thus obtained are validated with both published and experimental ones. Results presented else where are repeated in this paper for clarity sake. The anlysis is completed with further results that are embedded in this paper. The developed theory can be modified for the radiation pattern analysis of other antennas and other structures. The prediction of the radiation pattern using UTD also aids to mitigate the multi-path effects of signal from GPS satellites.
